Fakes 02:51
Hear me out, it’s been a long whatever Don’t tell me your thoughts about the weather The future is coming very clear Filter, the bad things disappear Reading the room, try not to read too much Discomfort, feel old feel tired feel out of touch All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise I’m anxious, always acting up And acting, you gotta be like somebody else Reading your letter, do you think you’re so tough? Subject, subject yourself to boundless love All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise I was 18 in 1985 I was 18 in 1995 I was 18 in 1985 And I’ll be faking till the day I die I was 18 in 1985 I was 18 in 1985 I was 18 in 1985 And I’ll be faking till the day I die All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise All style, not a lot of substance Shut out, shut out the noise –

Right Time 02:46
Tell me that it’s not a waste Tell me that it’s not a waste Everything is being replaced Or vanishing without a trace Weighted by wonder, my regular nature Is pulling me under, pulling me under Losing composure, my regular nature A senseless adventure Right place, right time (Right place, right time) Right place, right time Right place, right time (Right place, right time) Right place, right time Right place, right time (Right place, right time) Right place, right time Right place, right time (Right place, right time) Right place, right time Weighted by wonder, my regular nature Is pulling me under, pulling me under Losing composure, my regular nature A senseless adventure –

Undermine 03:15
I was a silent film (Undermine what you are) I never played with him (What you are, what you are) Look like you wanna be there (Undermine what you are) We all wanna be let in (What you are, what you want) Still make the same mistakes (Undermine what you want) But saving so much time (What you are, what you owe) I was a silent film (Undermine what you want) Slow deathlike cigarette (Undermine what you want) –

Cursed 03:41
I should have known what was in front of me There’s always one to set the other free I should have known the ground beneath my feet Could shift away, falling into the dream You wish your head could unremember this But memory is all there ever is I should have known what was in front of me There’s always one to set the other free Ordinary people live outside of themselves Don’t bother looking, I have already left Ordinary people live outside of themselves Don’t bother looking, I have already left Ordinary people live outside of themselves Don’t bother looking, I have already left Don’t bother looking, I have already left Don’t bother looking, I have already left –

Kafka 01:44
Our lives are intertwined, inseparable bind It’s fine, accept, be kind You’re always in my head The conversation ends Yeah yeah, yeah yeah It’s all been said It’s all been said Yeah yeah, yeah yeah It’s all been You’re lost, I see, I cross the street just to avoid Your eyes and make believe You’re always in my head The conversation ends Yeah yeah, yeah yeah It’s all been said –

I remember the days We didn’t see clouds up in the sky Oh, my eye wanders Unreliable and blind It’s a matter of choice What you do with your body And with the voices telling you You’re only living out your days What’s the use in distraction When you ain’t got no friends? I would rather be more than A means to an end It’s a matter of fact That the more I repel The more I seem to attract When time and space come face to face I won’t be there Yes, it’s true what they say If you don’t use it, you lose it Well, I lost anyway And now, I’ll wait around Till I evaporate What’s the use in distraction When it’s all going to end? I don’t want to be more than I need to Ahh All around me Nothing’s ever quite as it seems When the day’s done Don’t follow me, you’ll only get lost All around me Nothing’s ever quite as it seems When the day’s done Don’t follow me, you’ll only get lost All around me Nothing’s ever quite as it seems When the day’s done Don’t follow me, you’ll only get lost All around me Nothing’s ever quite as it seems When the day’s done Don’t follow me, you’ll only get lost –

A.I. 03:20
Turn around, show me those eyes Identify, identify Here, you can do anything Anything you desire Everything you want is free I agree, I agree Monitor activity I agree, I agree Closing the window Closing the window What good are we anyway? Ignorant and selfish ways Just one glance and I can see What you want, want from me It’s too late to turn around Yeah, I’m keeping up, but losing ground We’re witnessing a reckoning But I agreed to everything Closing the window Closing the window I agreed to everything I agreed to everything I agreed to everything I agreed to everything … I agreed to everything I agreed to everything I agreed to everything I agreed to everything … –

Reef 01:44
Reef Reef Reef Reef … Some days, the world hits you sideways And when push comes to shove, it’s never enough Swim away, swim away, swim away from your love It’s a shame It’s a shame It’s a shame It’s a shame It’s a reef Reef Eyes to the sky Reef Selling the lie Reef Stop asking why Some days the world hits you sideways And when push comes to shove, it’s never enough Swim away, swim away, swim away from your love It’s a shame It’s a shame It’s a shame It’s a shame … It’s a reef Reef Reef Reef –

Not Ready 03:14
Down with the current, over falls to the sea You’re going to pay over time Forget the foolish decisions I made I was out of my mind '17 was a real nice dream Till the money ran out I want to cry, but I cover my eyes Don't want you watching me come down Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not Down with the prior arrangements we made I had somewhere to be Disappointed by the drugs of today (By the way) You didn't get them from me I had friends, I can't remember them They're on a different timeline I wanna die I wanna die I wanna die and I realize Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not Ready, I'm not … Ready, I'm not, not, not, not, not Suddenly, I get the feeling Like I'm floating away from it all Convince myself to believe I can leave any day Just be gone Suddenly, I get the feeling Like i'm floating away from it all Convince myself to believe I can leave any day Just be gone, gone, gone, gone, gone Ahh, ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh (Ready, I'm not) (Ready, I'm not) (Ready, I'm not) (Ready, I'm not) … –

Rotten Teeth 04:05
I can’t decide if time is flying by Or standing still I could have settled down, but I ran, and now I never will I fantasize, but I could never promise Anything Anything Miss you when you’re there Gone and I don’t care Every good reason Lost somewhere Known it all along Still I get it wrong Sky in this light it goes On and on I still have dreams of love with no beginning And no end How can that be if I am walking out the Door again? Now every day, I swear is twice as long as The one before Miss you when you’re there Gone and I don’t care Every good reason Lost somewhere Known it all along Still, I get it wrong Sky in this light it goes On and on On and on On and on Ahh, ahh, ahh Ahh, ahh Ahh, ahh, ahh On and on On and on Ahh, ahh, ahh Ahh, ahh Ahh, ahh, ahh –

Gov Shut 03:18
Why do you have your back up? I was trying to be a friend You gotta look through other eyes If you wanna see around the bend We were headed somewhere Well, I thought there was a chance Yeah, we were in between What we might have been And what we could not reconcile in the end Alright In a year of disappointment You’re the greatest of them all And that’s saying something Though, it’s really not your fault Is my judgement clouded? Is there something in the air? Well, I was on my way But the setting sun Left my work undone My peace won’t come I run, I run away How do you talk to people you meet? I get nervous walking down the street Tongue-tied with nothing to say Lost count of all the times it’s gone that way Oohhhh –

I can’t be bothered to be bothered anymore Look in the mirror, you’ve forgotten who you are A wave of fear will send you running for the door A second chance, if you’re looking, finds you One time or another I didn’t doubt for a second (Aahhh) You never learn if you don’t listen (Aahhh) Impatiently looking over your shoulder Nothing without all your second guessing One time or another One time or another You’ve got it figured out It’s the same old story Same old story Your mind keeps telling you The same old story Same old story Ooohhhh Always somebody talking Always somebody talking Always somebody talking Always somebody talking One time or another I didn’t doubt for a second I didn’t doubt for a second I didn’t doubt for a second –

Waiting for nothing Almost got me Break up, and look out No horizon Aversion to action Every moment Is passing through my hand Time forgets you –

about

With Regular Nature, Sunglaciers (Calgary, AB) deliver intricately constructed yet danceable, highly-relatable rock music laced with post-punk, new wave and garage elements.

While not quite a modern rock odyssey, Regular Nature plays like a sprawling epic, as the group guides listeners through a journey across their myriad styles. Often showcasing the band’s penchant for delivering thrilling up-tempo earworms, the long-player also sees the four-piece toss in mid-tempo afterparty burners, experiment in electronic soundscapes, also offering gentle, palette cleansing ear-breaks. In an attempt to make sense of the world around them by exploring and articulating the deeper, more nuanced expressions of their realities and interactions, Sunglaciers sharpen their lyrical ethos, offering simple, repeating language to accompany their polymorphic musicality. Sometimes basking in positivity, optimism, love and assertiveness, others coaxing feelings of reflection, uncertainty, and dread, this new opus by the Calgary outfit is all at once a dreamy indie rock go-to and a technophobic post-punk-laden sonic barrage.

Purposely designed to be enjoyed in many ways, from solitary headphone listening to a crowded live venue, Sunglaciers’ third full-length – co-produced by Chad Van Gaalen and mixed by engineer Mark Lawson (The Unicorns, Land of Talk) and featuring a guest appearance by Daniel Monkman of Zoon – is scheduled for release on March 29th, 2024 via Mothland. It should please fans of alternative music contemporaries such as Deerhunter, Ought or MGMT as well as vintage rock aficionados looking for a modern take on new wave reminiscent of Devo or Talking Heads.
